Seven Ways to Make Money Blogging

The primary goal for any blogger or webmaster is to make money from his/her blog or website. E-commerce websites earn money by selling different products or services and informational websites/ blogs makes money from advertising and affiliate marketing.

Here are seven ways to earn money from your blog or website

1# Pay Per Click’ advertising:
Pay Per Click or PPC advertising is the most popular source of revenue for small and medium websites and blogs. After signing up with some PPC network like Google Adsense or Yahoo! Publisher Network, you will be served with some contextual ads, relevant to your site. When visitors to your site click on these ads, you make some money for every click. The amount earned from PPC depends upon the traffic level of your site/blog and it’s niche. Some of the profitable niches are Insurance, Mortgage, Loans, College education, Make Money Online etc. Apart from Google and Yahoo, the other PPC networks are BidVertiser, Clicksor, Chitika etc.

2# CPM advertising:
CPM stands for Cost Per Mille or the cost for 1000 impressions. This is similar to PPC but the payment is made according to the number of page views the ad displayed on your site generates. Therefore, if a website or blog generates 1,00,000 page views and it displays an advertisement banner with $2 CPM, the monthly revenue will be $200. The CPM rates may vary depending upon the location and the size/format of the ad. Some reputed CPM ad networks are Casale Media, Value Click, Advertising.com, Tribal Fusion etc.

3# Sell your own advertising space
If you have a large number of viewers, you may sell your own advertising space. This monetization method is very lucrative as middlemen commissions can be eliminated. A good example of this can be seen on my advertiser information page.

4# Affiliate marketing
This is very popular among internet entrepreneurs. Under this system, the website owner or the affiliate is required to promote the products or services of a merchant on commission basis. Reputed affiliate marketing networks are Clickbank, Commission Junction, Link Share etc.

5# Sponsored reviews
This opportunity is only available to bloggers. Here, the blogger is required to write a sponsored review about some product or service. Some reputed paid blogging networks are PayPerPost, Review Me, Smorty, Sponsored Reviews etc.

6# Forums
Having a private forum is another way to make money from your blog or website. Members pay a monthly membership fee to access the forum. But you must ensure that you provide real value to your members and teach them secret techniques and special tools.

#7 Make money by by offering services on your blog
Other sources of revenue include having a job board or market place on the site and charge a small listing fee for the same. An example for this can be to offer classifieds ads.

Blogging might not make you money directly, unless you run ads on the blog (which is a bad idea anyway), but it can definitely lead to opportunities that will make you money in the long run. Blogging is a great way to prove that you “know your stuff” and can be considered a trusted resource of information. It takes time, but this often opens doors to new business relationships that wouldn’t have happened otherwise.

  5. thanks for the tips Mr. Alling I already own a blog but it is quiet new but it is always good to learn and know how to do in the future
